this whole scene introduces the character of the joker to the audience, the scene itself isn’t very long its only 3 minutes and 3 seconds but in that time it makes it clear that joker is not the person you want to mess with. the pencil trick he does with gambols man shuts everyone up in the room and makes him the sole attention of all the bosses. when gambol calls him crazy the reaction shot of him holds for 5.83 seconds and he has the most utter look of absolute displeasure like hes offended by people calling him crazy. This scene is shot like a typical conversation so close mid to close shots with jump cuts jumping back and forth between everyone but its the music and sound effects that really bring out the joker in this scene. The background music isnt overpowering so it keeps all the attention on the joker and its also very subtle and it plays at the exact moments thats needed to empathize some shots. An example of this would be the music starts when joker slams gambols man’s head on the table and is empathized when joker shows the grenades to gambol.
